ROSEVILLE, CA — Longtime educator and community advocate Placer County Superintendent of Schools, Gayle Garbolino-Mojica officially announced her campaign for re-election. Known for her results-driven leadership, unwavering commitment to student success, and deep community ties, Garbolino-Mojica aims to continue building on the progress made during her nearly two decades of service in Placer County.
“I am honored to serve the students, educators, and families of Placer County,” Garbolino-Mojica said. “We’ve made incredible strides in student wellness, academic achievement, workforce development, and fiscal accountability—and I’m running again to ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive.”
As superintendent, Garbolino-Mojica currently oversees educational programs and services for more than 75,000 students across Placer County. Her tenure has been marked by innovation and collaborative problem-solving, including:
Leading Placer County students to consistently rank in the top three statewide in English Language Arts and Math performance.
Maintaining graduation rates in Placer County that outperform state averages year after year.
Launching the innovative "Come Back Program," enabling adults to return and earn their high school diplomas.
Forging community partnerships to develop the nationally recognized “Handle With Care” program supporting students experiencing trauma.
Championing workforce development initiatives by developing local teacher credentialing programs.
Expanding career technical education and inclusive learning pathways that prepare students for success beyond high school.
Advocating at the state level against reductions to Proposition 98 education funding as President of the California County Superintendents Association.

The election for Placer County Superintendent of Schools will take place on June 2, 2026.
