ROSEVILLE, CA — Longtime educator and community advocate Placer County Superintendent of Schools, Gayle Garbolino-Mojica officially announced her campaign for re-election. Known for her results-driven leadership, unwavering commitment to student success, and deep community ties, Garbolino-Mojica aims to continue building on the progress made during her nearly two decades of service in Placer County.

More than 400 acres of Clover Valley, a natural habitat within Rocklin’s city limits, have been saved from being turned into a housing development.

The Placer County Office of Education says it approved a $2.37 million investment this month, the last piece of funding needed to secure the land.

Garbolino-Mojica is an educational leader, recognized across the region and the state for her accomplishments in leadership, advocacy, and dedication to excellence.

Gayle Garbolino-Mojica is serving her third term as the Placer County Superintendent of Schools. She spoke in the Zócalo green room about her affinity for the 1920s and Tom Clancy novels before taking part in a Zócalo/The California Wellness Foundation panel discussion in Sacramento entitled “Is the Central Valley Finally Embracing Its Urban Future?”

In 2006 Gayle Garbolino-Mojica was elected Placer County Superintendent of Schools. Her office works in conjunction with 16 local school districts, and is responsible for overseeing the districts’ financial solvency and academic accountability. Comstock’s spoke with Garbolino-Mojica about major trends and issues impacting the county’s school system. 

Gayle Garbolino-Mojica was born into a family that makes public service a way of life. Her father is a retired Superior Court judge, her mother a former mayor of Roseville. By the time Garbolino-Mojica was a teenager, she discovered her passion and how she could effect the most change. “I really enjoyed working with kids and knew I was going to have a career that involved young people,” said Garbolino-Mojica.
